WRESTLING MEGAFEST 2007: SET FOR RELEASE???

Two years after the infamous debacle known as the Wrestling Megafest in Lynbrook, NY, comes word of a possible release date for a DVD consisting of footage that was filmed at the two day event.

Due to a falling out and legal battle between the co-promoters of the event, producer , director and owner of DieHard Pro Wrestling, Derek Gordon, was asked to hold off on releasing any footage until matters had been resolved amongst the disputing parties.

Ironically, the footage that was shot and used for this DVD did not – in any way - document the event itself or its failures. The footage is a compilation of short shoot interviews featuring many of the pro wrestling personalities who were on hand at the event answering generic wrestling questions. Therefore, the contents of this footage would not have any bearing over the legal disputes.

After sitting on the shelf for just under two years, it was decided that the footage should be released to the public as originally intended. When asked about the pending release, Gordon stated, “I just screened the original cut and see some areas that I would like to tweak and change before we put it out there – but other than that, it’s pretty much ready to go”.

”The DVD itself isn’t controversial”, added Gordon. “It’s everything that happened behind the scenes those two days that is…and NONE of it was captured or documented in any of the footage. So, the only people it’s hurting is the people who’ve been waiting to see the interviews”.

The interviews feature legendary pro wrestling personalities such as Superstar Billy Graham, Vince Russo, Sid Vicious, Al Snow, Tammy Sytch and several others speaking candidly about their opinions of the wrestling industry.

A trailer for the DVD was cut and posted online over a year ago and fans have continued to ask about its much anticipated release. As of press time – an early Fall 2009 release date has been targeted, but only time will tell.
